If you can drive a car, there’s nothing to stop you learning to drive a bus. Don’t worry if you have never driven anything of this size before.
We asked Ferne McCann of TOWIE and This Morning fame to give it a go. She was happy to take on the challenge of gaining her licence, even though she wasn’t sure she’d succeed. But as she proved, there’s no need to be nervous about driving a bus – especially one of our modern fleet with power assisted steering and lots of other technology. Take a look at the video to see how she got on. (Spoiler alert – she did well!)
Every day our female bus drivers are out on the road delivering a professional and safe customer experiences. We got three of our bus drivers together to tell you more about the job and how it’s a career that really suits them.
Yvette, Karisca and Amanda explain how they got in to bus driving and explain why it’s a job they enjoy.
Yvette, Karisca and Amanda talk about what it’s actually like to handle a double decker bus, and why they’re proud of what they do.
There’s no escaping the fact that men outnumber women bus drivers in the industry as a whole, but we’re doing all we can to welcome more women onto the team. Around 10% of our drivers are female and the number’s growing all the time with more and more women proving it’s a job they’re great at.
The role is shift working so you can plan your life around this and the chance to be a valued and supported member of a great team – all working together to keep your local community moving.
